Hexplord is committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how Hexplord collects and uses your information once you create a profile on the Hexplord.com site, and what rights you have in relation to your data. Hexplord is owned by Hexplord (Pty) Ltd. (registration 2025/573797/07), a limited liability company operating under the laws of the Republic of South Africa. As we operate in the Republic of South Africa, the company, its products, services and applications comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
1. What information does Hexplord collect?
1.1 Personal data
To use Hexplord, you have to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to:
Your email
Your first and last name
Your profile picture or avatar
Your IP address
Your unique device identifier
Your user ID from your linked Strava account
1.2 Activity data
We collect, process, and store activity data from your Strava account that you link to Hexplord, so that we can maintain the awesome Hexplord site including your global Hexplord grid and leaderboards. Points to note:
We collect your Strava data under the terms of the Strava API agreement.
You can select whether your private activities are included, or not.
The GPS location points generated within each of your activities is represented as a collection of hexagonal grids (hexes) that your activity was carried out in. We do not show any part of your actual activity track or route.
Your data becomes publicly accessible to other Hexplord users, but is only represented by the hexes that you have been active in.
When you unlink your Hexplord account from Strava, we immediately delete this data.
1.3 Payment data
If you subscribe to Hexplord Pro, then we may collect data necessary to process your payment.
1.4 Web or mobile usage analytics data
Hexplord is hosted using Google services and Google Analytics are used to track your usage of the Hexplord website (or app). This data may include information such as your device’s IP address, mobile phone unique ID or UDID, browser type, browser version, pages that you visit, timestamps of your visits, and the amount of time spent on those pages.
2. How does Hexplord use your data?
To update the Hexplord grid data
We use your Strava activity data to update the global Hexplord grid data, leaderboards, unexplored hexes, etc.
To improve the platform
The analytics data that we collect helps us to improve the usability of the site so that we can continue to deliver an exceptional user experience.
2.1 Will your information be shared or sold?
No.
We hate spam as much as you do!
Any data collected directly by Hexplord will never be shared with, or sold to, third parties, except in the good faith belief that such an action is necessary to:
To comply with a legal obligation
To protect and defend the rights or property of Hexplord
To prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Hexplord application
To protect the personal safety of users of Hexplord or the public
To protect against legal liability
2.2 How long will Hexplord keep your information?
For as long as you have a user profile on Hexplord
You have the right to delete all of your data with immediate effect. Your data will be immediately deleted from our servers if you delete your Hexplord account. You can do this from within the settings section of the Hexplord.com website.
For as long as you have authorised Hexplord to link to your Strava account
If you deauthorise Hexplord from linking to your Strava account, your data will be deleted from the Hexplord servers. You can always sign up to Hexplord again and re-link your Strava account.
2.3 How secure is my Personal Data?
The security of your data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
